Though driving or riding in a vehicle is a common activity for most people, it can still be a nerve-wracking experience. In particular, people may feel more unsettled when they are traveling near tractor-trailers. These big rigs have a commanding presence on the roadways, and a truck accident could easily claim lives.

It was recently reported that an accident in Maryland proved fatal and led to injuries for other parties. Reports stated that the driver of a tanker truck failed to properly negotiate a turn, and as a result, the truck crashed into a passenger car and another tractor-trailer. It was noted that excessive speed was suspected as being a contributing factor. The driver’s side of the car ended up pinned underneath the tanker.

There were five people in the passenger car at the time of the incident, and one passenger suffered fatal injuries. Of the other people in that vehicle, one suffered critical injuries, and another suffered minor injuries. The two others were uninjured. Both truck drivers also escaped the crash without injury. It was not mentioned whether any criminal charges may result from the incident.

This Maryland truck accident will likely have many lasting repercussions for those involved and the family of the deceased victim. It may be worthwhile for those who suffered damages as a result of this incident to consider filing personal injury or wrongful death claims against the truck driver and the trucking company. These claims could allow affected parties to pursue monetary recompense for hardships stemming from the crash.
