What do you need to know about workplace injuries?

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2021 | workers' compensation |

Most of our readers in Maryland probably know someone who has suffered a minor injury on-the-job – or maybe even a major one. Workplace injuries are, unfortunately, quite common. Are you in danger of suffering an injury at your workplace?

According to the statistics, quite a few workers face danger every day. For example, statistics kept by The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health show that “slips, trips and falls” are among the most common causes for workplace injuries. In fact, those causes are so common that over one-fourth of non-fatal injuries which caused workers to miss time at work were due to slips, trips and falls.

But, so-called “minor” incidents that cause injury shouldn’t be the only concern for workers in Maryland. The statistics also show that in one recent year alone – 2019 – an estimated 2.4 million workers in America suffered on-the-job injuries that were severe enough to require emergency medical care. Many of those workers were under the age of 25.

Addressing workplace injuries

Whether you work in an office, a warehouse or even outside, your work environment may be more prone to presenting dangers than you realize. If you have suffered an on-the-job injury, you may have legal options to consider. One important option is workers’ compensation. In some cases, pursuing a lawsuit may even be an option as well.
