The roads we drive every day can seem safe, especially if we have never experienced a car crash. However, driving is actually one of the most dangerous activities we collectively engage in, and we often do it every day.
One such recent fatal motor vehicle accident really drives this point home.
The fatal multi-car accident
The fatal multi-car accident occurred Saturday evening in Anne Arundel, Maryland. According to Maryland State Troopers, a woman was driving against traffic on Interstate 97. She collided with another vehicle, which caused a cascade of collisions resulting in five wrecked vehicles, multiple injuries and one death.
After the car accident
Per the report, as a result of the car accident, a 68-year-old Annapolis, Maryland, man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Multiple people were sent to the hospital, and I-97 was shutdown for hours.
The wrong-way driver was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide while impaired by alcohol, negligent vehicular homicide while under the influence and negligent vehicular manslaughter, among other charges.
What this shows us
There likely was not anything any of these drivers could have done to avoid this allegedly drunk driver, even if they were driving perfectly safely.
This accident shows just how dangerous our roads become when negligent drivers get behind the wheel and how little we can do to avoid such negligence.
You can fight back and get your justice through a personal injury lawsuit. While the civil justice a personal injury lawsuit cannot bring back loved ones, unbreak a bone or take away your pain, it can help you get back on your feet.
